Cobargo

|History, craft and splendid scenery The
historic working village of Cobargo is situated just half
an hour south of Narooma and is an ideal stopping place
for quality wares, arts, crafts and fine foods. Many of
Cobargos Buildings are over 100 years old and today
are still in keeping with the look of yesteryear, but all
have their own unique personality adding to the character
of the village. Enjoy the opportunity to explore this
township and its pottery, wood workings, old wares,
leather work, wheel wrights, blacksmiths, folk art,
bakery and cafes.
A great time to experience the true country charm of
Cobargo is at the Cobargo Markets, held in the RSL Hall
in the main street on last Saturday of each month from
8:30am to 12:30pm. Take a drive through the picturesque
hill country and visit Wadbilliga National Park with its
ideal walking tracks and fabulous views.
Nearby towns are also full of interest. Just to the east
is Bermagui
, an angler's
delight. These National Trust townships are surrounded by
lush, volcanic farmlands, pristine rainforests, beautiful
lakes and beaches. Tilba,
just north from Cobargo, are historic gold mining, dairy
and cheese towns. In July a must is the Cobargo's
Traditional craft day where local craftspeople share with
others their self-sufficient traditions established in
the 1860's.
