When John Vander paints a town he paints it as a portrait painter would paint his subject. Every buiding is accurate. He sketches evry building in the street before he starts his final work. John says 'My paintings are sparked by my feeling for the subject. I want others to view my work and catch the same impression of light, colour and form that inspired my original impulse!'

Now 76 years of age, his paintings are like the man himself. They have the same strength and vigour as his early works which were introduced to art collectors in the fifties and seen on the front page of the London Times in the early sixties when the White Chapel Gallery exhibition introduced the Australian artist to the world. Since then Dickerson has had more than 70 one man exhibitions here and overseas and his work is represented in all major public collections in Australia.
