Centre on the move... to Squires Way, Fairy Meadow at
Wollongong with with spectacular new shows and exhibits
for the whole family to enjoy.
Now that
Wollongong¹s new Science Centre is open, visitors
can expect to see all sorts of exciting new exhibits - as
well as a few old favourites. There are three current
exhibitions; Changing World, Zap! and NRMA Roadzone as
well as Search for Life in the Universe in the
planetarium. Exhibitions will change regularly so that
there will always be something new to see.
Changing World has a wide
variety of interactives which are suitable for all ages.
It features some unique fossil displays with the skeleton
of a Cryolophosaurus, the only large dinosaur found in
Antarctica, the skull of a Tyrannosaur and a moving,
roaring Dimetrodon. There are also fossil digs and
puzzles. As well as showing change over very long
periods, the exhibition also features a Foucault Pendulum
showing the Earth¹s rotation and a working
Seismograph monitoring its vibrations. There are exhibits
showing the dynamic creation and movement of sand dunes
and a working tornado.
The Science Centre is
adding a hands on component to this exhibition so that it
can be appreciated by all ages. Changing World has a wide
variety of interactives which are suitable for all ages.

The entire family will
enjoy the host of wonderful exhibits, puzzles and shows
at the Science Centre, operated by Wollongong University.
You can look down on earth from a satellite, watch
mysterious plasmas and lighting discharges and feel what
it's like to spin like an ice skater. Stand your hair on
end with a million volts, make water run uphill and send
your voice across a room using a satellite communication
dish. See the hologram gallery with its amazing 3
dimensional images and test your logic with one of the
many challenging scientific puzzles.
Visit NSW's premier
Planetarium, explore the World Wide Web or visit the
science shop for many interesting books, games, puzzles
and toys. In addition to the exhibits, the Science Centre
is well known for its shows featuring topics such as
Bubbles and Balloons and Liquid Nitrogen.
