Tours & Sightseeing

Visitors to Wollongong have a wide variety of interesting and unique attractions and tours to keep them entertained, ranging from passive activities such as bush walking, exploring the parks and gardens, beaches and lookouts through to the amazing experience of touring Australia's Industry World at Port Kembla.

The Illawarra Museum located in Market Square, provides an entertaining and highly informative insight into the earliest part of Wollongong’s history. Be prepared to be transported back in time as you visit rooms filled with artefacts from the past.
Within easy walking distance of the museum is the Court House, the oldest surviving commercial building in the region, and well worth a look.

Self drive tours are plentiful - from the city a great day trip is north along Lawrence Hargrave Drive where you can explore the galleries, antique shops, cafes and restaurants. You can make it a very relaxing half day tour.

The famous Bald Hill Reserve has a spectacular view up and down the coast and, if the hang gliders are in action, they will leap off the cliff before your very eyes. It was from Stanwell Park Beach below, where Lawrence Hargrave discovered the principal of flight in 1894. This picturesque drive takes you through old miners' villages precariously perched on the cliffs and some of the most spectacular vistas Australia has to offer . Experience a fresh fruit adventure with Glenbernie Orchard Explorer Tours or take a picnic and spend the day amongst Australian wildlife at Symbio Wildlife Park.

Wollongong is well served with safe cycleways, and is a favourite way to get around, especially for families. For those who are looking for something just a little different why not blast off on a Harley Davidson, or try the novelty of a Scoot Car. Friends will be impressed as you arrive in style in a stretch limo! Vintage car lovers will appreciate a tour through the Illawarra Motoring Museum at Kembla Grange. Now open 5 days per week the museum boasts an enormous collection.
