berryBERRY, SHOALHAVEN HEADS

Travel south, out of Sydney on the Princes Highway for just over two hours. Cruise along some of the most spectacular coastline in NSW and you will come across a picturesque village which will steal your heart and rejuvenate your soul. Set amongst rolling green hills with the backdrop of the stunning Cambewarra range, Berry is famous for its cafés, antiques and boutique shopping. As soon as you cross the bridge and glimpse the gorgeous rotunda set amongst roses and camellias in the beautiful Apex Park, you will know this is a special place.

The town and the surrounding countryside are a treasure just waiting to be explored. Known as the town of trees, Berry is one of those rare finds with striking landscape. Berry, the first truly rural town south of Sydney is a country experience like no other. A short walk around the village taking in the historical buildings, lovingly maintained by the people of Berry, provides a graceful glimpse of a bygone era. No matter what the time of year there is always something happening in Berry.

 

Berry Show
On January 30 & 31, Berry Show will have something for the whole family, with cattle and horse events, rodeo, wood chopping, pet shows, and the pavilion.  Also January 31 enjoy a showcase of wines and fine food at Berry School of Arts.  Great time to visit Berry.

Escape to Berry where you can relax and unwind staying in a beautiful bed & breakfast, or at a boutique motel snuggled up in front of an open fire after a day enjoying the picturesque countryside, exploring local wineries and shopping in Berry village.  There is an abundance of things to do with some wonderful events come up -  the Berry Musicale program until July 27 and South Coast Fibre Muster School of Arts from July 4-5 which is hosted by the Berry Spinners and Weavers and focusing on Natural Fibres and Textiles.  There are many highlights in the Musicale program and a night that should not be missed is when the eight Sydney Symphony Fellows, young musicians from all over Australia who have been selected for a year's experience playing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, team up with a selected local school children and perform for family, friends and public.

In August the Berry Public School will be holding its annual Food and Wine Fair which is a great social event held over 3 nights, August 26-28, where you can sample and enjoy the wonderful array of fresh produce from Berry and surrounds.  With fabulous food and signature dishes and music for entertainment.  There is also the Berry Antiques Fair September 20-21 and Berry's four-day Gardens Festival in October.  If you enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a beautifully sculptured garden, then take the time to stroll through the stunning gardens at the Berry Gardens Festival held over four days, October 15-18, with special exhibitions and music to delight your senses in the gardens, you will be able to visit 8 breath-taking properties open to the public from 10am-4pm daily during the festival.

While you are in the Berry district, take in the delights of the local markets which are overflowing with trinkets, clothing and artworks.  Whether you want fresh local produce or handmade arts and crafts, there's a wide variety.  Don't miss The Berry Country Fair on the first Sunday of each month and the Berry Flea Market on the third Sunday.
