The Ulladulla-based South Coast Leisure Times magazine has won the media category of the Illawarra and Southern Highlands Regional Awards for Tourism for the second year running.
The awards were presented at a black tie dinner at the Shellharbour Workers club last Thursday evening.Hundreds of tourism operators from throughout the Illawarra and Southern Highlands were welcomed by television cameras and media as they entered the function centre which was decked out in glittering lycra.
Awards were presented to significant tourist attractions and accommodation houses including the Wollongong Entertainment Centre, South Coast Leisure Times staff present on the evening were proud to be recognised among these big wigs of the tourist industry. Host, Lachie Daddo, called upon David Johnson to accept the award on behalf on the magazine.
David explained the importance of promoting the South Coast as a major tourism attraction with its high class facilities and also natural beauty. He thanked the regional Tourism managers and the facility operators for their support of the magazine.
Magazine
manager, Deborah Garland, was also called upon to present a
$1000 advertising
package to the winner of a special draw, the
Cockatoo Run.
Ms Garland said she was
honoured to have won the media award for the
second year
running and is looking forward to the state
awards. "We¹ll
also be entering the South Coast Tourism awards which we won
last year."
Our profile in the Illawarra is growing fast and we have gained a lot of support following the recent production of Wollongong Tourism's Wollongong Guide, which was distributed through our magazine and as a separate publication.
Once again we have proven the Leisure Times to be a valuable tool for the promotion of tourist facilities, accommodation and special events. The free magazine is published by the Milton-Ulladulla Publishing Company six times a year and covers an area from Helensburgh to Bega. The latest edition is out this week, Ms Garland said.
