St Georges Basin & Woollamia
The idyllic setting of St Georges Basin and Sanctuary Point have made them the fastest growing towns in the Shoalhaven in recent years. The protected waters of the basin allows for swimming, family picnics, water-skiing, canoeing and more. Back on the highway a stop at Wandandian will be pleasant break with little craft shops, nurseries and beautiful surroundings.

Emus will amuse you at Marayong Park

Marayong Park Emu Farm will keep the family inexpensively entertained for hours. You can call in at any time between 9 am - 5 pm (except Tuesdays) and browse around the farm, watch the emus at play and if you want to get up close 50 cents buys a bucket of special emu tucker . Being surrounded by these magnificent birds is quite an amazing experience - kids love it. Take your camera and get some great family photos.

There are about 100 healthy happy birds in different pens for you to see and their antics will amuse you for hours. The Emu Shop is a great hit The walls of this authentic Aussie style tin shed are covered in signatures and messages of visitors from all over the world...grateful to be able to experience these amazing and uniquely Australian birds in such a convenient setting.

The Emu shop has a full range of emu oil, enriched cosmetics, creams, soaps, shampoos, sport rubs, arthritic creams etc. A big seller is the 100 per cent emu oil - a favoured treatment for aching muscles and joints.Other bi products such as emu leather, wallets, belts, hand bags, purses, key rings and plain and decorated emu eggs are very popular as souvenirs and true Australiana gifts.

The shop also has light refreshments including freshly made emu sausages and baked pies. One of the many highlights of your visit is a tour of the farm - great value at $10 per family (2 + 2), $5 adult, $3 child, $3 concession taking about 1-1 1/2 hours. The tour will teach you everything there is to know about these large flightless birds.

Your tour leader Tony loves sharing his knowledge and asking his trick question "Why is the emu on Australia's coat of arms?" - see if you know the answer. You will be able to pat the big birds and follow their breeding habits. Tour times are strictly 10 am and 2.30 pm each day. The tours are becoming very popular with schools and social groups - special discounts for groups and coach trips can be arranged. Contact No. (02) 4447 8505 - go see the emu shop on the web at
